Doylestown Rugby Football Club News – March 21st, 2022
High School Girls’ Team
On Sunday, March 6, 2022, the Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Girls’ Team defeated North Bay, 46-24 in the inaugural game of the Elite Girls Rugby League (EGRL). The game was played at the home pitch at the Maennerchor Field, 3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Try scorers for the day were Reaghan King (3), Maddie Doyle (2), and Molly Thiebeau (1). Nolah Flynn added three conversions and one penalty kick. On Sunday, March 20, 2022, in another home match, the Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Girls’ Team tied Morris Rugby at 31-31. Captain Maddie Doyle led the team with three tries. Maggie Austin and Reaghan King each tacked on a try. Nolah Flynn made three conversions. The team will take on Conestoga Girls on March 27, 2022 for the first league (RugbyPA) game of the season at Conestoga.
High School Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Boys’ Team traveled to Scranton to play Gregory the Great Academy, the #10 ranked high school team in the United States, in a pre-season match on Sunday, March 20, 2022. In a touch loss, the try scorers for Doylestown were Jack Wierzbowski and Lex Williams. Matt Cleland kicked one conversion. The next match will be the season league opener at St. Joe’s Prep on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
Junior (U15) Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy Junior Boys’ Team defeated Morris (NJ) in a home pre-season match on Sunday, March 20, 2022. The final score was 52-31. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Aaron Kelly (4), Joey Craig (2), Alejandro Benitez and Timmy Fuhrmeister. Joey Craig kicked five conversions and Bailey O’Malley made one conversion. The Dragons will open the league season on April 3, 2022 with an away match against Conestoga.
Youth (U13) Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy Youth Boys’ Team defeated Morris (NJ) in a home pre-season match on Sunday, March 20, 2022. The final score was 55-5. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Davis Parisi, Liam Hoey, Nick Miletto, Owen Pudlo, Louie Cipollo, Sonny Wade, Brandon Zubyk, Jackson Reilly, and Brady Meehan. Jamie Weir kicked five conversions. The Dragons will open the league season on April 3, 2022 with an away match against Conestoga.
