Doylestown Rugby Football Club News – March 29th, 2022
In an away match on Saturday, March 26, 2022, the Doylestown Rugby Men’s Team defeated South Jersey 73-19. Next up, on April 2, 2022, the Dragons will play Philly-Whitemarsh in the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU) semi-finals at the Philly-Whitemarsh home pitch.
In a hard fought and entertaining home match on Saturday, March 26, 2022, the Doylestown Rugby Women’s Team lost 38-19 to the Harrisburg Women. Grayce Fjeld, Maddie Groninger, and Katie Walston each scored a try. Walston also made two conversions. The Dragons will play at NE Irish on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
High School Boys’ Team
In an away match on Sunday, March 27, 2022, the Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Boys’ Team fell to St. Joe’s Prep in the season league opener. Jack Wierzbowski scored the Dragons’ lone try. Gavin Koch was Man of the Match. The next match will be at LaSalle on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
High School Girls’ Team
The Doylestown Academy Girls’ Team traveled to Wayne, Pennsylvania to take on Conestoga on Sunday, March 27, 2022, and came away with a 91-10 victory. Maddie Doyle and Reaghan King each had five tries. Katen Ostrow, Liz Johnston, Grace Bolling, Maggie Austin, and Nolah Flynn tacked on one try each. Flynn also made eight conversions. Doylestown will take on Aspetuck Girls at JFK Stadium in Hoboken, New Jersey, on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 11:30 a.m., in an EGRL match. At 12:45 p.m., also in the EGRL, West Carroll will play Morris. These matches are being played before the Major League Rugby match between Rugby United New York (RUNY) and Old Glory DC at 3:00 p.m.
Junior (U15) Boys’ Team
In an away preseason match, the Doylestown Rugby Academy Junior Boys’ Team lost to Elizabethtown, 22-48. Try Scorers were Joey Craig (3) and Marco Burns (1). Joey Craig also kicked one conversion. The Dragons will open the league season on April 3, 2022 with an away
match against Conestoga.
Youth (U13) Boys’ Team
In an away preseason match, the Doylestown Rugby Academy Youth Boys’ defeated Elizabethtown, 38-15. Try Scorers were Mason Darrows (4), Gavin Graham (1), and Nick Miletto (1). Conversions were kicked by Jamie Weir (3) and Jackson Reilly (1).
