Doylestown Rugby Football Club News – March 25, 2024

High School Boys’ Team

The Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Boys’ Team hosted Berks County at the home pitch, the Maennerchor Field, on Sunday, March 24, 2024. The A Side lost 31-12. Trys were scored for the Dragons by Gavin Koch (1) and Cade Aivazian (1). Bailey O’Malley kicked one conversion. The B Side Dragons took on St. Joe’s Prep and won, 27-14. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Dante Burns (2), Owen McCarty (1), Gavin Koch (1), and Tim Fuhrmeister (1). Nolan Corey kicked one conversion. Doylestown will play Malvern Prep at home (Maennerchor Field, 3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, Pennsylvania) on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Junior Boys’ Team

The Doylestown Rugby Academy Junior Boys’ Team (8th and 9th grade) had their second preseason match yesterday at Elizabethtown Blues and came away with a victory. Doylestown defended fiercely in the first twenty minutes of the match and was able to turn away Elizabethtown. The Dragons then found their offensive footing and were able to run in multiple trys to finish out the match. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Louie Cipollo (3), Owen Pudlo (2), Davis Parisi (1), Liam Hoey (1), Nick Miletto (1), Chris Imperato (1), Hunter Pulford (1), Jamie Weir (1), and Jack Sugalski (1). Jamie Weir kicked eleven conversions. The next match for the Junior Team will be at Montgomery-Bucks Rugby on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Youth Boys’ Team

The Doylestown Rugby Academy Youth Boys’ Team traveled to Reading to play Berks County in their second preseason match on March 24, 2024. The young Dragons dug quite a hole for themselves in the first half, being down 0-15 with Berks County leading. However, after some serious soul-searching and determined play, the young Dragons outscored their opponents in the second half, 50-7. The final score was 50-22, in favor of Doylestown. Doylestown try scorers were: Jonah Khanan (3), Quinn Fragner (1), Carter Braun (1), Conor Cassidy (1), Lucas Wyatt (1), and Harry Imperato (1). Conversions were kicked by Conor Cassidy (4) and Declan Murray (1). Berks County had four trys and one conversion. The match proved to be a wonderful test to measure where the Youth Team stands before its regular league season begins on Sunday, April 7, 2024 when the young Dragons will play an away match against Montgomery-Bucks Rugby.
