High School Boys’ Team

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, the Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Boys’ Team played Gregory the Great Academy in an away match. The final score of the A Side game was 12-51. Try scorers for the A Side Dragons were Nolan Corey (1) and Aaron Kelly (1). Joey Craig kicked one conversion. The B Side Dragons also fell to Gregory the Great, 5-53. Luke Sugalski scored the lone try for Doylestown.

Junior Boys’ Team

The Doylestown Rugby Academy Junior Team (8th and 9th grade) had their final league match on Sunday, May 5, 2024, against Berks County Rugby and came away with an 80-10 victory. The Dragons were able to hold Berks County out of the try zone and raced to a 54-0 halftime lead in wet and rainy conditions. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Mason Darrows (2), Jack Sugalski (2), Nick Miletto (2), Cross Cervellero (1), Liam Hoey (1), Brandon Zubyk (1), Louie Cipollo (1), Liam Laphen (1), and Jamie Weir (1). Conversions were kicked by Jamie Weir (9) and Jackson Reilly (1). The Junior Team finished their league season undefeated and heads to the RugbyPA playoffs on Sunday, May 12, 2024, with the opponent and venue to be determined.

Youth Boys’ Team

The Doylestown Rugby Academy Youth Team traveled to Reading to play the Berks County Youth Rugby Team on Sunday, May 5, 2024. The Young Dragons found themselves down early in the match 10-0. However, some clever kicking by Conor Cassidy allowed him to retrieve his own kick and score late in the first half to make the halftime score 5-10. In the second half, Doylestown quickly scored two trys, one each by Jackson Backus and Jameson Meehan, to Berks County’s one additional try with ten minutes to play. Another Conor Cassidy try almost secured a win for the Young Dragons, but the strong running Berks County Youth Team proved too difficult to keep out of the try zone. The game ended in a 22-22 tie. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Conor Cassidy (2), Jackson Backus (1), and Jameson Meehan (1). Conor Cassidy kicked one conversion. Berks County had four trys and one conversion. The Doylestown Rugby Academy Youth Team is anticipating to play next weekend in the RugbyPA playoffs, with the opponent and venue to be determined.
