U14 Boys’ Team

In the RugbyPA semi-final match on Sunday, May 11, 2025,the Doylestown Rugby Academy U14 Boys’ Team hosted Blackthorn Youth Rugby. The two teams had previously faced each other in the first game of the season, with Doylestown winning that match. From the opening kickoff, Doylestown discovered that this Blackthorn Youth Team was starkly different from the one they faced earlier in March. Blackthorn jumped out to a commanding lead with two tries from their extremely fast and agile fullback. However, Doylestown managed to fight their way back into the game with two tries of their own! They tied the score at 12-12 just as the halftime whistle blew! In the second half, the two teams traded one score for another. What determined this match were the conversion kicks. Blackthorn was greatly helped by that fullback, again, who always seemed to get around Doylestown’s defensive backline and would center the kicks for the Blackthorn kicker.

This proved to be the proverbial “nail in the coffin” for not only Doylestown’s season, but also its Championship season hopes. The final score came once again from the Blackthorn fullback who centered the conversion kick position for the Blackthorn kicker. The Dragons, who unfortunately did not convert their last score’s kick, watched as the Blackthorn kicker once again slotted his conversion kick to give Blackthorn the victory. The game ended with the score: Blackthorn Youth Rugby 26 – Doylestown Youth Rugby 24. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Carter Filoon (1), Ryatt Skipper (1), Joey Brigidi (1), and Brady McReynolds (1). Conor Cassidy kicked 2 conversions. Blackthorn Youth had 4 tries and 3 conversions. The Doylestown U14 Team ended their successful season with the loss in the RugbyPA semi-final match against Blackthorn Youth Rugby.
