Doylestown Rugby Football Club News – March 2, 2026
High School Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Boys’ Team hosted #5 nationally ranked Xavier High School out of New York City on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at LaSalle College High School. This was Xavier’s first match of the Spring season and Doylestown’s second match. Xavier is a perennial school power and the defending New York state champion. Xavier rightfully plays in the National Championship tournament every year. Xavier’s defense was outstanding for the first 20 minutes of the match as they executed 2-man low strong positive grade tackles over and again. Doylestown was unable to score its first try until the 21st minute of the match. However, the never-ending body blows by Doylestown were too much for Xavier to overcome.
Doylestown’s strength and speed began to set in as the teams went to halftime with Doylestown in control 25-5. The second half was dominated by Doylestown as the Dragons pushed the score to 52-5 until Xavier scored the final try of the match to give Doylestown the extremely hard-fought victory 52-12. Doylestown travels to Charlotte next weekend for a mini-tour to face #2 Charlotte Cardinals on Saturday, March 7, 2026, and #7 Charlotte Tigers on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Try scorers for Doylestown were Jackson Reilly (2), Liam Hoey (2), Gavin Graham (1), Timmy Fuhrmeister (1), and Louie Cipollo (1). Jackson Reilly kicked four conversions and one penalty kick. The Man of the Match was Jackson Reilly (scrumhalf). Xavier had 1 try and 2 conversions.

U16 Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy U16 Boys’ Team hosted Xavier U16 Boys Rugby out of New York City on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at LaSalle College High School. This was Xavier’s first match of the Spring season and Doylestown’s second match. Xavier opened the scoring in the 1st half but did not convert the try. So, the match began 5-0 in favor of Xavier. However, Doylestown struck back with a Jake Beckenhauer try. Beckenhauer also kicked the conversion, making the score 7-5 in favor of Doylestown. Then, Xavier responded with a try and once again took the lead, 10-7. Beckenhauer answered again by notching another try minutes later but failed to convert the try, leaving the score, 12-10. Xavier then answered back with another unconverted try before halftime, making the score 15 – 12 going into halftime.
Substitutions were made by both teams at halftime which unfortunately slowed the pace of play down due to inexperience on both sides. However, Doylestown’s newcomer, Jimmy Cooker, put the Doylestown U16s ahead with a try of his own. Another Beckenhauer conversion surged Doylestown ahead, 19-15. Unfortunately for the home team, the young Doylestown team’s tough defense was finally cracked in the last minute when a Xavier forward ran in the winning try with just seconds remaining in the match. This final try sealed the closely fought game in Xavier’s favor, 20-19. Doylestown’s U16 Team next travels to Charlotte, North Carolina next weekend for a mini-tour to face the Charlotte Cardinals U16s on Saturday, March 7, 2026, and the Charlotte Tigers U16s on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
