Doylestown Rugby Football Club News – April 13, 2026

Men’s Team
Over the weekend the Men’s team hosted division rivals, Media, for a friendly spring match. After a hard fought battle, the Dragons fell to Media 57-36.
High School Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Boys’ Team hosted St. Joe’s Prep High School on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in a RugbyPA league match. The weather and field conditions were perfect. Both teams came ready to play, and the first 20 minutes were very physical, and possession was about even. St. Joe’s was able to maintain possession for multiple phases, and Doylestown enjoyed playing defense for stretches of the first half. Doylestown was able get out to a 21-5 halftime lead by softening the defense with battering runs by the forwards, which opened running lanes for the backs to score trys. Doylestown made minor halftime adjustments to its attacking platform and personnel.
The changes were very effective as Doylestown was able to run in 6 tries in the second half while playing shut out defense. The final score was 57-5, in favor of Doylestown. Try scorers were Aaron Kelly (3), Jackson Reilly (2), Alex Stukis (1), Hunter Pulford (1), Cross Cervellero (1), Chris Imperato (1), Jamie Weir kicked 5 conversions, and Jackson Reilly added one conversion. St. Joe’s Prep had 1 unconverted try. The Man of the Match was Aaron Kelly (fullback). Doylestown next travels to LaSalle College High School on Sunday, April 19, 2026, for another RugbyPa league match.
U16 Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy U16 Boys’ Team hosted the Hawks from St. Joe’s Prep High School on Sunday, April 12, 2026, for their third RugbyPA U16 league match. St. Joe’s Prep traveled to Doylestown with a rather large squad so three periods of rugby were played for the teams, but only the first two periods counted as the official league match for both teams. Doylestown focused on playing a new spread format to this game which proved to be fruitful, and the young Dragons immediately reaped the rewards off the first kickoff. Conor Cassidy’s defensive pressure turned into instant results when he scooped up an errant pass from the young Hawks and scampered into the try zone for the first score of the game. Doylestown continued to keep their proverbial “foot on the gas” as they scored four more times before St. Joe’s responded with a score of their own just before halftime. This made the score Doylestown 29 – St. Joe’s Prep 5, going into halftime.
Doylestown continued to score in various ways in the second half with both the Doylestown forwards and backs getting the opportunity to tally points on the scoreboard. In the end, the Doylestown succeeded in implementing the new style of play extremely well even though St. Joe’s Prep never stopped playing hard throughout the match. By the final whistle, the young Dragons flew to a resounding 74 – 5 victory.
Try scorers for Doylestown were Jonah Khanan (2), Mario Palena (2), AJ Kelhart (2), Conor Cassidy (1), Nick Warren (1), Jake Beckenhauer (1), Shane McCuen (1), Griffin Glock (1), and Carter Filoon (1). Jake Beckenhauer kicked seven conversions. St. Joe’s Prep U16 had one unconverted try. The Man of the Match was Mario Palena (8-Man) for running hard, scoring trys, and making consistent tackles throughout the match.
Next week, the Doylestown U16 Team travels to LaSalle College High School in Wyndmoor, PA for their next RugbyPA league match on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
U14 Boys’ Team
Dragons Fall Short in Hard-Fought Battle
The U14 match was a physical, high-energy encounter that saw the Doylestown Rugby Academy U14 Boys’ Team push Delaware County to the limit on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Despite a strong performance in the home match, the Dragons ultimately fell 22-14. While the Dragons displayed a formidable team-oriented approach on both sides of the ball, unforced errors proved costly against a disciplined Delaware County side. These mistakes provided the visitors with extra opportunities that ultimately tilted the scoreboard. The Dragons will not have much time to dwell on the loss. They are already looking to apply the lessons learned as they prepare to travel to Berks County on Sunday, April 19, 2026. “The Dragons will learn from the game and continue moving forward.” Doylestown trys were scored by Trace Keen (1) and Quinn Fragner (1). Lucas Wyatt kicked two conversions.
U12 Boys’ Team
Sportsmanship Shines in High-Scoring Affair
The U12 match kicked off at home, on April 12, 2026, with a great display of rugby culture. To ensure a full 12 vs. 12 contest, several Doylestown Rugby Academy U12 Boys’ Team players stepped up to pull on Delaware County jerseys. The game was an offensive showcase, with both sides trading trys in a back-and-forth battle. Regardless of the jersey they wore, the young Dragons “played with fire,” consistently challenging the opposition’s defensive lines and moving the ball with intent. Doylestown trys were scored by Parker Kelly, J’koah Beckenhauer, and Grayson Hirsch. The U12 Dragons will play Berks in an away match on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
