Doylestown U14 Shows Depth and Spirit in Preseason Finale

The Doylestown Rugby Academy U14 Team hosted Philly-Whitemarsh on Sunday, March 22, 2026, for their final preseason scrimmage. Coming off a strong showing against Mont-Bucks the previous week, the Dragons looked to further sharpen their cohesion and tactical execution before the regular season kicks off. To ensure a full 15-on-15 contest, Doylestown provided multiple players to Philly-Whitemarsh. This allowed newer athletes on both sides to gain invaluable game experience and “learn by doing” in a competitive environment. Doylestown’s offense clicked early, finding the try zone multiple times in the first half through disciplined team play. At halftime, several players swapped sides. Regardless of the jersey they wore, the Doylestown athletes displayed a high rugby IQ, focusing on improvement and collective growth throughout the second half. Looking ahead, the preseason has officially ended. With two successful scrimmages under their belts, Doylestown has built a solid foundation of teamwork and grit. On Sunday, March 29, 2026, the Dragons will travel to White Horse Rugby for the highly anticipated 2026 season opener.

The Dragons showed significant progress in their “run forward” mentality, consistently winning the gain line and driving through contact. The players demonstrated great vision by passing the ball into open space rather than taking unnecessary contact. Defensively, the team stayed connected, coming up as a unified front to shut down Blackthorn’s attack. With over 30 players seeing significant game time, the coaching staff was able to see the lessons from practice translate directly into game-day success. Whether they were wearing Doylestown or Blackthorn jerseys, the Dragons impacted the game on both sides of the ball. It was a quality day of rugby for everyone involved.
