U16 Boys’ Team

The Doylestown Rugby Academy U16 Boys’ Team travelled to Wyndmoor to take on the Young Explorers of LaSalle College High School on Sunday, April 19, 2026, for their fourth RugbyPA U16 league match. Doylestown traveled with 22 players to challenge LaSalle for the lead in the U16 RugbyPA Division. Both the winner of this game and the loser would be confident that they would see the other team later in the RugbyPA playoffs.

LaSalle struck first by taking the game directly off the first kickoff to the Young Dragons of Doylestown. LaSalle was finally rewarded for spending much of the game’s first ten minutes in Doylestown’s territory. The first score of the match went to LaSalle. However, Doylestown struck back with a well-worked try through the Doylestown forwards, as Seamus Haney scored first for the Young Dragons. This try tied the score at 5-5. LaSalle scored a late first half try, making the score LaSalle 10 – Doylestown 5 at halftime.

After the second half kick-off, the Young Dragons were immediately dealing with injuries from the tough LaSalle defense. Replacement scrum-half, Conor Cassidy, took advantage of that same LaSalle defense with small, sniping runs around the base of the tackle area. These proved to be especially beneficial close to the LaSalle goal line. Cassidy did not just score one time, nor two times, but a whopping three times to give the Young Dragons a 24-10 lead well into the second half. Jake Beckenhauer kicked two conversions to round out Doylestown’s three unanswered trys.

Then, Brady McReynolds proved that his hard, consistent running should also be rewarded so he dotted down a fifth try for Doylestown. This made the score Doylestown 29 – LaSalle 10. However, LaSalle then proved that they were a force that just would not go away by scoring two more unanswered trys. This made the final score Doylestown U16 29 – LaSalle U16 22. Try scorers for Doylestown were Conor Cassidy (3), Seamus Haney (1), and Brady McReynolds (1). Jake Beckenhauer kicked two conversions. LaSalle U16 had four trys and one conversion. The Man of the Match was Conor Cassidy (wing and scrum-half) for his sniping runs around the base of the rucks and tackles, and for his scoring a hat trick during the match.
