Doylestown Rugby Academy Junior Boys’ Team Wins RugbyPA State Championship

DOYLESTOWN RUGBY ACADEMY JUNIOR BOYS’ TEAM WINS RUGBYPA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

The Doylestown Rugby Academy Junior Boys’ Team (8th-9th graders) defeated LaSalle College High School on Sunday, May 21, 2023, in the RugbyPA State Championship match held at PSU-Berks. The final score was 50-7. The match was very competitive in the first half, with Doylestown holding a 7-0 lead with only 2 minutes left in the half. Doylestown was able to run in 2 tries in the final 2 minutes to take a 19-0 lead into halftime. Doylestown played a portion of the second half down two players (15 v 13) due to illegal tackles, and this was when LaSalle was able to punch in their lone try of the match. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Gavin Graham (2), Timmy Fuhrmeister (1), Alex Stukis (1), Jackson Hornick (1), Aaron Kelly (1), Jackson Reilly (1), and Joey Craig (1). Conversions were kicked by Craig (4) and Stukis (1). The Dragons finished 9-0 on the season.
