Doylestown Rugby Football Club News – September 21, 2026

Men’s Team

The Doylestown Rugby Men’s Team traveled to Monmouth, NJ on Saturday, September 19, 2026, to play their first league match of the 2026 Fall Season.

In what was a great day for ball, the Dragons started fast, seeing Brian Kelnhofer open the scoring in the first minute with a try from the outside center position. Monmouth answered with 2 scores of their own, and this match would very quickly turn in to a back-and-forth battle between the two squads. Doylestown registered 2 scores from Shannon Pearson and Shawn Foley in the first half, which would end with Monmouth holding a slim 19-15 lead.

The second half was a carbon copy of the first, with each team answering the other in a battle for momentum. Try scorers for the Dragons in the second half were Josh Smith 2.0, Prince St Cyr, and Kevin Reilly III. The Dragons were unable to capitalize on two key opportunities late in the half. The result was that Monmouth scratched out a 33-30 win, with conversion kicks being the deciding factor at the end of the day.

Doylestown received 80 minutes of outstanding play from their forward pack, playing with a short bench. Dragon forwards were gritty and opportunistic on both offense and defense, controlling the flow of the game on both attack and defense.

The Man of the Match was Prince St Cyr, for his dominance on both offense and defense. The Hard Hat was awarded to Noah Fillman for his high work rate and impact in and around every breakdown.

Doylestown will host Old Gaelic on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at the Maennerchor Field, in what should be an outstanding Week 2 matchup.
