Doylestown Rugby Football Club News – April 15, 2024
High School Boys’ Team
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, the Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Boys’ Team played Conestoga in an away match. The A Side fell to the host team 29-40. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Dante Burns (2), Marco Burns (1), and Joey Craig (1). Joey Craig made three conversions and one penalty kick. The B Side Dragons won 28-5. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Nolan Corey (1), Caden Sailer (1), Alejandro Venites (1), and Dante Burns (1). Nolan Corey kicked four conversions. Nolan Corey was Man of the Match. Doylestown will play Salesianum on Sunday, April 21, 2024, with the place and kick-off time to be determined.
Junior Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy Junior Team (8th and 9th grade) played their second league match on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Conestoga and came away with a victory. The Dragons built on a very good week of practice and a great pre-match warmup. They stepped on the gas from the opening whistle in overwhelming Conestoga and coming away with a big victory. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Nick Miletto (4), Liam Hoey (4), Davis Parisi (2), Gavin Graham (1), Louie Cipollo (1), Jack Sugalski (1), Jackson Reilly (1), Finn Haddon (1), and Brady Flynn (1). Conversions were kicked by Jamie Weir (14), Louie Cipollo (1), and Jackson Reilly (1). Conestoga had one try and one conversion. The Dragons’ next game will be at home against Blackthorn on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
Youth Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy Youth Team traveled to Wayne, Pennsylvania to play their second league match of the season against Conestoga. The Young Dragons rocketed out to a fantastic start, scoring 26 points before the Conestoga ruggers scored their first try of the match. The first half ended with Doylestown ahead by a score of 31 – 7. In the second half, Doylestown’s defense stood firm and did not allow another score for the rest of the game. In the end, the Young Dragons won the game, 60 – 7. The team improved its overall record to 2-0 in the RugbyPA league. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Crew McFerson (3), Mario Palena (2), Declan Murray (1), Conor Cassidy (1), Brendon Frey (1), Quinn Fragner (1), and Vinnie Mignon (1). Conor Cassidy kicked five conversions. Conestoga had one try and one conversion. Doylestown will play local rival, Blackthorn, at home on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
