Doylestown Rugby Football Club News – February 24, 2025
High School Boys’ Team
The Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Boys’ Team and the U16 Boys’ Team traveled to Vienna, VA on Saturday, February 22, 2025, to play their first preseason matches of the Spring Season. Both teams came away with wins. Vienna is nationally ranked, were playing their fourth match of the season, and were wonderful hosts. Doylestown won the high school match 45-42 with a game ending try after being down by 4 points with no time remaining. Doylestown led the match throughout, but faltered in the final 10 minutes due to injuries, low fitness level, and cramping. However, the young Dragons dug deep after giving up their first lead of the match and pushed a try over from close range to win the match. Try scorers for Doylestown were: Liam Hoey (2), Jackson Reilly (1), Timmy Fuhrmeister (1), Alex Stukis (1), Hunter Pulford (1), and Louie Cipollo (1). Jamie Weir kicked 5 conversions. Vienna had 6 trys and 6 conversions.
The Doylestown U16 team then followed up with a great showing for their first time out. Doylestown had a young U16 team, but they had very strong numbers with at least 25 players. The team played cohesive rugby and came away with an impressive win 38-27. Try scorers were: Gavin Sailer (2), Brady Meehan (1), Justin Grosso (1), Finn Riley (1), and AJ Kelhart (1). Conversions were kicked by Jack Beckenhauer (3) and Hunter Pulford (1).
