Doylestown Rugby Academy Youth Boys’ Team Wins Fourth Consecutive RugbyPA State Championship

In a dramatic last-minute comeback, the Doylestown Rugby Academy Youth Boys’ Team defeated Coventry to win its fourth consecutive RugbyPA State Championship on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Penn State University Berks Campus. The final score was 24-22. The Dragons, who never led in the match, were down 0-17 at halftime and 0-22 with 17 minutes left in the second half. Then, they made a furious comeback. Tries (five points each) were scored by Jackson Hornick, Mason Darrows, and Gavin Graham. Jamie Weir kicked three conversions (two points each). That put the score at 21-22. With no time on the clock, Weir made a penalty kick (three points) to win the match 24-22. Coventry had three tries, two conversions, and one penalty kick.

Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Girls’ Team Is RugbyPA State Championship Runner-Up

In a hard-fought match, the Doylestown Rugby Academy High School Girls’ Team lost to Moon Area Girl’s Rugby, 43-26 in the RugbyPA State Championship on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Penn State University Berks Campus. Graduating senior and co-captain, Liz Johnston, led the Dragons in scoring, with two tries. Maggie Austin and Reaghan King each added a try. Nolah Flynn made three conversions to round out the scoring. The girls have an EGRL match on June 5, 2022, and then go into summer 7s.
